June Sunday Sewday Show & Tell was short and sweet June Sunday Sewday Show & Tell was short and sweet. 

Our July Sunday Sewday is next Sunday (13th July) at the Ashfield RSL club. All are welcome. For first time visitors don’t join the long queue (that’s for Yum Cha) head to the sign in desk and reception will help you sign in - you just need your driver licence - once you have signed in head to the right of the desk and up the stairs to the Anzac room. (There is a stair lift if you need it - just ask reception). 

Helen T - 4 frocks - made from 4 dresses(frocks) purchased previously from lifeline 

Rebecca H - Orange peels halved. 

Anita - making a Noodle Head  bag- Redwood Tote- machine sashiko quilting 

Catherine Porter - mola- 2 at a time one for the front one for the back- made by Diego from South America. For a blouse. 4 layers- colour reversed by changing order of layers
And other colours inserted and then reverse appliqué. No empty spaces

Helen Hill - Amanda Murphy panel/block -  handles from ikea bags from the QuiltNSW volunteer delivery quilt bags. - destined to have left over Albo corflute on the inside.

The MQSA 2026 are heading to the Marana Auditorium, Hurstville - in Sydney’s south.

13th - 15th March 2026.

The Sydney Modern Quilt Guild meet today for the e The Sydney Modern Quilt Guild meet today for the end of Year Sunday Sewday. Which included the conclusion of our Negative Space Race Challenge. Members were encouraged to create a small quilt celebrating negative space, including the use of a minimum of 2 recycled elements. 
Congratulations to Sharon for Best use of Negative Space and Libby for Best use of Recycled Materials. 
Sharon used 17 pairs of Jeans to create her denim colourwash ombré effect, and the binding was made using backing offcuts from a previous quilt. 
Libby’s quilt was made using an old cushion and some old blouse fabrics.
Anita, used an old pillow slip, 2 x tablecloths
Helen H used a piece of scrap blanket, recycled wool felt, 
Trish used her husbands black shirt, white pillow slip from lifeline, and other fabrics from sewing basket 
Francis used green silky fabric from a woman selling off her stash and buttons and lace from lifeline. 
Helen T used fabric donated from Kate’s mum and a floral reversible skirt she purchased from the markets ages ago. 

Well done everyone- they all look great! ♥️

A few reminders for this Sunday - the Christmas edition of the Sydney MQG Sunday Sewday… 
• Wear something christmassy
• please bring a christmassy grocery item that can be added to the Christmas hamper to be won by lucky door prize at the end of the day! 
• if you would like to participate in a game please  bring a small gift (wrapped up) to the value of $15 - new or op-shopped 
• and as usual something for show and tell.

Don’t forget your Negative Space Race
Challenge quilts We will be judging all entries on Sunday - There will be prizes!!!

Also on note the Sewing Basket is requesting no cash payments when you are shopping there. Card only! 

And one of our lovely visitors - Rae informed us of a quilt project called  Transitions Quilt Project. (USA) making quilts for people who are transgender.

Alan shared his rotary cutter pockets made from the leftovers of his black and white challenge for QuiltNSW- he hates waste. (Not photographed by request) 
And Deni showed us her latest Aussie hero quilt. Unfortunately we can’t show you that either. Deni is a prolific quilter, often dying fabrics to get the tone or colour she’s after. You’ll have to come along to see them. They are amazing. ♥️🫶🏻♥️
