We had a fantastic turn up for our December Sit an We had a fantastic turn up for our December Sit and Sew. Our Christmas hamper was well stocked, and almost everyone participated in a lively game of steal the present! Deni- Rabbits grand son - pins colada and pumpkin Reece Scanell fabric prints - wall hanging for her dinning room. Tea towel from Estonia = table runner Rupali - 1/2 circle table napkins fold into trees Hilary - baby quilts Anita - bag, machine sashiko bright fabric lining pockets Heather- Chris Jurd kit! - kaffe fassett fabrics Cath Midson quilt being hand bound but Natalie and Angela(Nats mum) for the our charity quilts Trish, pink n white for 15 year old granddaughter and the party in the back. Sharon pineapple punch for Adaminaby P&C raffle. (is the background for the December title. If you are coming to the Modern Quilt Show Australia please consider volunteering - even an hour is helpful. Sign ups via the MQSA 2026 website. Volunteers for Show needed from 12th March Second half of the year (2025) we ran a spotty dotty challenge. The quilts and winners were awarded at our December meeting. Please bring a Christmas food item to add to the Christmas hamper. A small (up to$20) sewing related Christmas gift - wrapped - for a game. June Sunday Sewday Show & Tell was short and sweet June Sunday Sewday Show & Tell was short and sweet. Our July Sunday Sewday is next Sunday (13th July) at the Ashfield RSL club. All are welcome. For first time visitors don’t join the long queue (that’s for Yum Cha) head to the sign in desk and reception will help you sign in - you just need your driver licence - once you have signed in head to the right of the desk and up the stairs to the Anzac room. (There is a stair lift if you need it - just ask reception). Helen T - 4 frocks - made from 4 dresses(frocks) purchased previously from lifeline Rebecca H - Orange peels halved. Anita - making a Noodle Head bag- Redwood Tote- machine sashiko quilting Catherine Porter - mola- 2 at a time one for the front one for the back- made by Diego from South America. For a blouse. 4 layers- colour reversed by changing order of layers And other colours inserted and then reverse appliqué. Louisa - little grandbaby jacket - thanks to the panel. 😂 Fun little pattern- precursor to make an adult version - collective knowledge! Helen Hill weird bag- she also purchased from Natalie Rotar 4” charm square pack at the Petersham Destash Market, turned it into a quilt! Rebecca’s H - raised $600 towards a school building project in Nepal when her quilt was auctioned at a charity dinner. Te quilt is made in the colours of the Nepalese flag Catherine Porter - reverse appliqué - labyrinth Cut as you go. Only one way out! Roman spiral labrynth Cath Brummel- Mauve crosses intersections dark circle, blue circle and mauve circles to be added. Saffron Craig fabric Emma Jean Jansen Super nova 80” How to waste time- unpick and move around once finished. 😔A lady from Camden who had passed away, a bunch of her unfinished quilt as you go, that Cath has been working on finishing. #sydneymqg #may2025 #showandtell

Quilted herself! Isobar inspired! Helen Tait - Christmas cards Jay: year long mystery quilt every 2 weeks subtractive or additive prompt. - so smart and so strong - Smong! - experimental techniques - online quilt community with Zac Forster Trish- quilts of love bits that were already made. The Sydney Modern Quilt Guild meet today for the e The Sydney Modern Quilt Guild meet today for the end of Year Sunday Sewday. Which included the conclusion of our Negative Space Race Challenge. Members were encouraged to create a small quilt celebrating negative space, including the use of a minimum of 2 recycled elements. Congratulations to Sharon for Best use of Negative Space and Libby for Best use of Recycled Materials. Sharon used 17 pairs of Jeans to create her denim colourwash ombré effect, and the binding was made using backing offcuts from a previous quilt. Libby’s quilt was made using an old cushion and some old blouse fabrics. Anita, used an old pillow slip, 2 x tablecloths Helen H used a piece of scrap blanket, recycled wool felt, Trish used her husbands black shirt, white pillow slip from lifeline, and other fabrics from sewing basket Francis used green silky fabric from a woman selling off her stash and buttons and lace from lifeline. Helen T used fabric donated from Kate’s mum and a floral reversible skirt she purchased from the markets ages ago.
